Upper Antelope Canyon Sunbeams<\/strong><\/em> – Apr 13, 2010<\/p>\n

The sunbeams align with the opening of these sandstone slot canyons for a few minutes each day for short period in April.\u00a0 A tripod is a must for this series of photos due to the low light. The sunbeams are not visible unless you toss a shovel full of fine sand into the air (all that fine suspended dirt is rough on the camera). The color on these photos was not photoshopped but the white balance on the camera was shifted toward red.\u00a0 The upper and lower canyons were formed and continue to be shaped by flash floods that fill the canyon with a rushing water\/slurry of sand and rocks that carve the shape. These canyons were once called corkscrew canyons but were renamed. Both are on Navajo Tribal land.\u00a0 – Img 7936<\/p>\n
